KARIN HEPBURN

Karin Hepburn is a mid career Scottish artist, wife and mother living in the West Coast of Scotland. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art in the early 1990s, she furthered her education by obtaining her Teaching Certificate in Art & Design in 1993. With over 30 years of experience in teaching Art & Design, Karin resigned from her teaching position in June 2023.

In October 2022, Karin established her own gallery, this evolved as a result of Lockdown. Studio Two Six One, is situated in Newton Mearns, Glasgow. This vibrant space serves as a communal hub for both professional and amateur artists, in addition to providing creative workshops and hosting local Art events.

Karin has continued to develop her creativity throughout her teaching career as well as raising a family. Her paintings draw inspiration from nostalgic memories, seascapes, and the vast Scottish skies. Recently, she is blending these influences by combining her large skies with her iconic landmarks. Her Scottish heritage is prominent throughout her work. Karin is also inspired by her love of travel.

After resigning from her teaching position in June 2023, Karin is dedicated to the development of her gallery and her personal growth as a mid-career artist. Her inaugural solo exhibition, “Into the Light,” was held in November 2022 at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine, showcasing work inspired by her experiences during lockdown. Additionally, she is a regular exhibitor at the Pittenweem Arts Festival in Fife, Scotland.
